The enchanting Andes Mountains

My husband and I had a great desire to see snow and we learned that in Chile this was possible and then we decided to go to Santiago de Chile because there we would go in the snow and stay in Santiago that is not so cold. We made our trip to Santiago in September 2013. In the Capital it was not too cold, for those who are accustomed to the temperatures of São Paulo the weather there was even pleasant and an invitation for long walks around the city.

We did the basic walks through the city like: Botanical Garden, Zoo, Japanese Garden, San Cristobal Hill and Santa Lucia Hill. We went one day to Portillo, where they have a hotel and a ski station, it was very cold and there was still plenty of snow there. We did not have the courage to ski, but we stayed there watching people ski, adults and children sharing the same space and to pass the time and warm us a little we had a hot chocolate, but even then the cold did not pass, so we stayed there inside the Hotel Where they rent equipment for skiing.

We took lots of pictures and for a few minutes we saw some snowflakes falling, but very fast. He had a beautiful Saint Bernard who was very tame and let us take pictures of him. The other day we went to Valle Nevado and Farellones, two ski resorts very close to Santiago, the road has beautiful landscapes and many curves, the climb seems to have no end, is very high. On this day there was less snow and we did ski butt, that's right, we descended sitting in the snow in an imitation "cart", a delight and gave us many laughs. At night the best place for a Dinner is at Pattio Bella Vista and at the Bars and Restaurants of the Lastarria Neighborhood. We know the house of Pablo Neruda from Santiago to La Chascona and also from Val Paraiso La Sebastiana.

If you are having time it is worth spending a day strolling through Viña del Mar and Valparaiso. We know some places in each of the cities, worth getting to know, whether with a tour agency or on your own. The Cordillera is charming, super beautiful and accompanies us everywhere in Santiago. We had lunch one day in the Giratorio Restaurant that allows a 360 degree view of the Andes Mountains and went to Arauco Mall and the Costanera Center. We also know the Hard Rock Café that is in the Costanera Shopping Center. We love to know this bit of Chile and we are already planning our trip this year, soon I will make a new post.
